Project Background:

Alongside my studies as an Industrial Design student, I was a member of the second Calhoun Honors Discovery Program (CHDP) cohort, a transdisciplinary learning program that focuses on solving real-world problems with Industry 4.0 techniques for technological innovation and societal impact. For the past three years within CHDP, I worked closely with Boeing, Collins Aerospace, All Wheels Up, and my team members (the team is comprised of engineers, designers, business, and sustainability experts) to develop an airline seat concepts that will allow wheelchair users to remain in their personal wheelchairs for the duration of their flight. This project is known as the WSSS, or Wheelchair Space and Securement System.

The WSSS is a 2024 Crystal Cabin Award Finalist, and a 2023 Crystal Cabin Awards Shortlister.
